Content reviewed: October 9, 2026. This is a documentation-based setup guide, not a report of hands-on testing. Menu names and features depend on your model, region, software and player version.

Samsung and LG Smart TVs can use compatible IPTV players, but app availability is not the same on every TV. Check your exact model and store before choosing a subscription. A phone test alone does not establish that a television app will work.

Before You Install: Record Your Model and App

  • TV brand, full model number and approximate model year.
  • Operating-system or firmware version and your actual store region.
  • Player name, publisher and version, plus any app licence cost.
  • Whether your account format is supported by that player.

Check the model label or the TV’s device-information menu. Samsung and LG menu paths vary; use the manufacturer guide for your model if the labels differ below.

Samsung: Find and Install a Compatible Player

  1. Connect the TV to the internet and sign in to the Samsung account required by your Smart Hub version.
  2. From Home, open Search or Apps, find the player by its exact name and check the publisher.
  3. If it is listed for your model and region, choose Install, then Open.
  4. If it is missing, confirm compatibility rather than assuming every Samsung model supports it.

These general steps follow Samsung’s Canadian support documentation. They are not a confirmation that any specific IPTV player is available worldwide.

LG: Check Apps or LG Content Store

  1. Connect the TV and sign in to your LG account where required.
  2. Open Apps on newer webOS interfaces or LG Content Store on older supported models.
  3. Search for the exact player, inspect its listing and install it if available.
  4. If installation fails, check storage, account sign-in and whether LG Services Country reflects your actual region.

LG’s menus and store availability differ by model and webOS version. Do not change regions merely to bypass an unavailable app; check the manufacturer’s guidance and the app’s requirements.

Enter the Account Format Your Player Supports

An IPTV player and a subscription are separate. Installing or buying an app does not include an IPTV account. Check the app listing for any licence fee, and confirm the account format with support.

  • Server URL, username and password: use the player’s matching account option and enter each field exactly as supplied, including the URL scheme and any port.
  • M3U playlist: paste the entire supplied playlist URL into the playlist field. Do not paste it into an EPG field or remove its query parameters.
  • EPG URL: add a separate guide address only when the player requires it and support has provided it. A playlist loading successfully does not prove the guide has loaded.

Keep passwords and complete playlist links private. Redact credentials before sending an error screenshot; support can ask for necessary account information through its private channel.

Test Live TV, VOD and the Guide Separately

  1. Open several channels and note whether the problem affects one stream or many.
  2. Try a VOD title and verify audio, subtitles and seeking where offered.
  3. Open the EPG and compare the listed current programme with your local time.
  4. Restart the player once and confirm the account still loads.

If the App Is Missing or Playback Fails

If the required player is unavailable, ask about a compatible alternative or an external streaming device before purchasing hardware. If login fails, verify the account fields first. If only playback fails, test another stream and check the network. Avoid a full TV reset as your first troubleshooting step.

For help, provide the TV model, software version, player version, account format and the error message. Explain what worked and what failed, without sharing credentials publicly.

Choose Your Next Step

Request a 24-hour trial to check your actual device. Then compare durations and simultaneous screen allowances. Read the FAQ or ask IPTV Lions on WhatsApp with your device model, app version and specific issue.
